The New Eyes Project: A Resource for K-12 Photography Education

Resources for K-12 Photography Education

Most K-12 photography education programs operate on a shoestring budget. Those who direct them and teach in them invent solutions and devise ingenious methods for meeting their students' needs. To see how your colleagues have solved a wide assortment of problems, go to the Tools page here at New Eyes.

But you can't do it all by yourself. Our Resources page will list organizations, corporations, foundations, and individuals to turn to when you need help. Sources for funding and sponsorship, outlets for cheap cameras, a vendor providing deep discounts on materials to terachers, the publisher who donates books for your library — we'll post those here. If you know of such supporters of K-12 photography, tell us about them. We'll list them here, and you can discuss your experience with them, and thank them, in The New Eyes Project Forum.

Workshops for teachers and students

  • Mac On Campus: "The MAC-On-Campus educational support program . . . has evolved into a partnership with a coordinated effort between the MAC Group, corporate sponsors, and local dealers -- to help support and encourage schools, faculty, and students." Free demonstrations/workshops for students and teachers, at your institution. Also a "Digital Summer Camp for Educators." Seems mostly oriented toward college-level faculty and students, but perhaps a high-school program could partner with community-college program for this. Inquire at education@MAC-On-Campus.com and let us know. If you've had experience with these programs, please post your comments in the Forum.
